2025 Spring Season

This spring, we will once again be offering the chance for kids to participate in Little League® right here in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, AZ, a tradition dating back to 1961! We are so glad to have you as part of our local community!

Little League® began in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, in 1938, when Carl Stotz created a league for children to play baseball like the Major Leaguers of the day, on a field that was two-thirds the size of a standard baseball diamond. For more than 75 years, Little League has been the premier local community provider of baseball and softball opportunities to millions boys and girls of all abilities. And it's all volunteer-run, so please consider volunteering to coach, serve on the board (or a committee), or help the league in some other capacity this year.

The season begins for the older kids with player evaluations held in late January at Cocopah Middle School. All players wishing to play in the Minors or Majors divisions must attend one of the evaluations. Teams in all divisions are announced and practices begin in February, with games beginning in March. The regular season concludes in May before school ends. Your child's Little League Age this season is their age as of Aug 31, 2025

TEE BALL: Often, a player's first introduction to Little League® is in the Tee Ball program. Tee Ball is the entry-level division for players league ages 4-6. The experience is grounded in fun, fitness, and fundamentals. Smaller team rosters ensure the best experience possible. As players gain more skill and confidence, they may begin to hit thrown pitches from their kneeling coach later in the season.

FARM (COACH PITCH/RESCUE): The next step in a young player's development is to experience live pitching and learn more about game flow and the positions on the field. This division is designed for league age 7 and 8-year-olds, as well as experienced league age 6-year-olds. This season, parents will be able to select "coach pitch" (only the coach pitches for the entire season; ideal for experienced LL 6s and newer 7s) or "coach rescue" (halfway through the season, players begin pitching, but are "rescued" by the coach if the pitcher throws four balls; ideal for experienced 7s and most 8s). You can read more about what coach rescue looks like here.

MINORS/MAJORS (PLAYER PITCH): Only players pitch at this level. To ensure fair teams, all players are evaluated and teams are formed via a draft process. Although some experienced league age 8s may tryout to play in the Minors division, it is typically made up of players league ages 9-11. Majors is typically made up of league ages 11-12, but some league age 10s may be considered.

All players are subject to placement within the divisions above based on age, skill, and experience level, with safety and fairness being key. This is entirely the choice of the MRLL Player Agent, with consultation by the Executive Board. Tee Ball and Farm parents, please have your coach/teammate requests in place before you register. You must include these at the time of registration. Requests emailed after completing registration will be given lowest priority. As a reminder, Minors/Majors players CANNOT request coaches or teammates as these teams are drafted.

SOFTBALL: MRLL partners with Arcadia Little League to offer softball in the Farm, Minors, and Majors divisions. If you are interested in registering your child for softball, please sign up in one of the above divisions and indicate an interest in softball in the question provided.

JUNIORS: League ages 13-14 play on a 60/90 field. If we do not register enough players for an MRLL team, we will form a combined team with another league in District 6. If we are unable to secure a coach for the Juniors team, registrations will be canceled and refunded--please consider signing up to coach when you register your player.

RESIDENCY/AGE VERIFICATION: If your child will be participating in the Tee Ball or Farm divisions, please upload the required documents during registration; there is NO in-person verification for our younger players. If your child will be participating in the Minors or Majors divisions, you do NOT need to upload documents during registration; residency/age verification will be required IN PERSON during evaluations for our upper-division players. Residency verification is required EVERY YEAR. The school enrollment form is the only document that can be rolled over from previous seasons.

You will receive information about your child's team, coach, practices, and games at a later date. Practices may fall any day of the week and are determined by the coach. Games typically take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Most weeks, your child will play in one weekday game + one Saturday game. These details will not be finalized until after registration closes--stay tuned!
